That's not tiny... but seems so in this day of bloated 3000sq ft houses for families of 3. We had a family of five in about 1650sq ft and that was after the single garage was converted to the MBR.

But this was in the 1950s-1970s...

The previous owner of my house had 5 people and they must’ve live there 50 years. I talked to the son who is eldest and us now in his late 60s or early 70s, and he said he use to sleep in the 80 sqft utility areawhich is now my laundry room. If you had to go to the backyard you need to pass the area. He said he didn’t mind it.

I grew up in a 1500-1600 sq ft with a family of 5. My sisters shared a bedroom. That was pretty common at the time.
