I have not read every post here, but I will comment from my experience. I changed careers at 37. I make way more money in new career, but I do not find any more joy in the work. In fact, in my other career, I was doing what I loved to do, but made much less money, which in turn affected my happiness. I would say this, while you have no wife or kids, go seek out whatever you can, take a chance, make the move, because at some point you won't be able to do that.
