In the New Mexico section, you can visit Santa Fe (close to Albuquerque, more touristic) as well as Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands National Park.
I haven’t done the latter two, but I believe at least one of those is in the range between Albuquerque and El Paso.
Someone on this board surely has though, and I’d like to hear their thoughts.

Caverns will add almost 4 hours to you trip from EL Paso to ABQ
White Sands is not as bad and will add about 90 Min
