When Does Gary Crowton & Coaching Take Some Blame For Lee?

everyone's talking about how inconsistent this kid is .. one minute he looks like a high school QB and the next he looks like he could play on sundays .. the kid's got a cannon arm and all the raw ability in the world .. when does crowton start taking a little blame for not fine tuning this kid's decision making process a little better ..

For what, telling him not to stare down receivers so much? I don't see what good that would do, except to just publicly embarrass Lee.

I see where you're going with this, but isn't his problems usually associated with being a freshman and young? I would think the issues he is having now isn't something new with young QB's.

Its like in The Karate Kid. You don't blame Miyagi for for Daniel getting his arse kicked at first. But after practice and hard work he became a great fighter. With time, practice, and hard work only then will Lee be ready as a great SEC QB.

Well, they have dumbed down the play book a good deal already. About 4 months ago this guy was a third string qb still learning the plays.
Not sure what else they can do at this point.

they took the blame for playcalling against troy, thats all you can ask for at this point

Lee's strength is his vertical passing ability. He performs much better if you turn him lose and let him throw the ball down the field. Crowton has essentially been setting him up for failure by having him repeatedly throw into traffic in the middle of the field...an area where it is obvious to even the casual observer that Lee doesn't see very well yet. Les admitted after the Troy game that they have handcuffed JL to an extent with these calls. I'm hoping that both the QB and the coaches learned something from this. I guess we'll find out on Saturday.

I think everyone's biggest problem is staring down receivers and even Flynn had that problem bad last year and he was here 5 years.

Crowton is operating with so many restraints, it is laughable you would question his abilities.

For what it's worth, I spoke to a friend who is a coach in Louisiana that used to coach with coach Crowton when he had those great offenses at La Tech and the comment he made to me was,"Coach Crowton is a great OC, but not so much as a quarterbacks coach. He specifically had QB coaches at La Tech to tutor the QB's. LSU would probably need to look at bringing in a good QB coach".
Now, I don't know who specifically coaches the QB's, but if it's Crowton, they might need to look at another option.

Crowton is handcuffed, the offense is dumbed down, and the WRs keep dropping balls. What the else do you expect? Lee HAS to throw to the middle of the field occasionally. LSU cant just run every down and throw out patterns. The coaches are doing what they can, and I doubt any other coach in the nation could do any better than this.

Have any of ya'll realized that Crowton may be doing a hell of a job to have Lee even playing at this leve?. He may be coaching Lee up.
Honestly, without attending practices and meetings it is hard to tell if Crowton is coaching Lee up or holding Lee back.
