Celebrities who are in the sunset of their careers don't count when they voice their opinions like this. No one cares what they think. They don't really work anymore and they have nothing to lose.
It's the younger celebrities who agree with this shite that need to speak up. They won't though.
I'd like to know what the likes of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Robert Downey have to say about these new "best picture" standards.

He won't care. He's not looking for Oscars. He's looking to entertain his audience/fans. Zero wokeness in Maverick (other than the diverse previous Top Gun grads, but it is explicit they all earned their positions and the old white guy was the only one to do the mission during training) and I do not expect there to be any in the MI:DR films.
Pitt and Downey are big enough stars and have enough frick you money to do the same, but they seem to be more "go along to get along" and will likely let studios do whatever they frick they need to do to box check.
