I am 50 and do marathons and longer distance triathlons. My weight, fitness, and BP is good, but I have to manage cholesterol. Maybe it was because of the cholesterol score that my family kept finding these stories of healthy people dropping dead in races and would hound me about going like I do. Never mind that the data shows that this sort of fatality, while awful and shocking, doesn’t happen very much statistically speaking to folks like me. They were convinced it would. So I went and got a calcium test done. It wasn’t covered by insurance, but it was only $100 and took no time to do. It came back zero and gave my family (and me) peace of mind. I am still running and gunning and happy. Also… and for whatever it’s worth… my doc said he wished everyone would go get a calcium test done, but he doesn’t push it because insurance won’t cover it.

I’m 42 and had it at 39. Work out 6 days a week. 5’11 155, lean and great lipids

Came back 1300

Cardiologist immediately did a cath and luckily arteries are clean and all the plaque was spread on the walls

Scary man. My dad and his brother both had quad bypass surgery by 45. Can’t outrun genetics
