A friend of mine and I watched the fight and it was a shock to see Tyson getting manhandled by Douglas, a 42-1 underdog.
Tyson was being managed/manipulated/robbed blind by Don King and his whole entourage after he walked away from the guys Cus D'Amato had in his corner.
He didn't train properly for that fight being such a favorite and knowing that Douglas was a few levels below him in skill based on his fight record at that time.
When Tyson knocked Douglas down late in the 8th with that big uppercut I thought the fight was over, but Douglas managed to just barely beat the count and the round ended.
Both fighter got hurt in the 9th with Douglas doing so to Tyson late in the round. Round 10 was when the magic happened for Douglas and he knocked Tyson out to win the belt.
Very next fight against Evander Holyfield saw Douglas lose the title.
My friend and I were both in shock since Tyson had always looked so invincible, and that was the start of the end of Tyson's career and losses started coming his way.
