They can't in all practicality. They were going to have to restructure if he stayed.

He'd be a guaranteed June 1 cut. Getting him now is worth something...but it's not worth a 2 and another 2 (which could be a 1).

Jets need to call their bluff.

Not really. They planned to have him under contract, they currently are 20 mil under the cap with his current deal. There’s no need to move his deal outside of the principal of not starting a player with that salary

What no he’s not. They aren’t cutting him. It would only be a 20 million dollar dead cap difference and still a negative 40 mil on the cap sheet if they cut him post June 1
