As it stands, talks are focused on the Jets dealing two picks for the Packers quarterback — one second-round pick in next month's NFL Draft, and another second-rounder in 2024 that could graduate to a first-round pick with “achievable” team performance escalators

That's way too much.

The Packers can't keep him at his salary. The Jets are so enamored with Rodgers, that they are bidding against themselves.

Until now, I really thought they were telling the Packers, "we'll wait as long as we have to. There's no chance we give up a high draft pick."

They are taking a huge L on the salary no matter what. They have him under their books currently and can keep it that way if they want to.

Even if the packers feel like they HAVE to trade rodgers, they still would need value for the salary they are going to have to pay to make the money work for the jets

The packers have a lot more leverage here than the jets.
