Can someone explain the advancing rule in basketball after a timeout?

Like, obviously I love it when it benefits my team but,

How does it make sense to get to be on your offensive side of the court with no time lost just because you used a timeout? Doesn’t make sense. Huge game changer especially with limited time left

The NBA has been doing it for years. The women’s game added it when they switched to 4 quarters.

It’s for the entertainment in the last minute.

It's to give a chance for something more interesting than 60-70 ft heaves to happen.
