My friend's lawyer did not elaborate to him. He went to his estate planning / divorce lawyer and I don't do any of that and don't practice in those areas; and I am not even licensed in Texas. I am relaying that according to my friend who was the victim of one of these extortion schemes, it is apparently such a common practice among females in the dating pool in Houston that he advises all his clients to avoid internet dating.

"They" refers to gold-digging extortionists in the online dating community, an example of which tried to ruin the life of someone I have known since grade school and who is about the most gentlemanly soul I've ever known. IOW - even if he did the deed with a gold digger (which he is actually too much of a gentleman to have discussed with me)- no way in hell he was abusive or crazy or whatever she tried to claim that he was after he broke it off. It spooked him to the point that he didn't go out with another woman for at least a year - and at that point was almost requesting background checks before he would consent to drinks and appetizers.
