Really got out of hand when Simone Biles used as an excuse to bale on Olympics. Went mainstream after that.

Too much information all of the time. I'm prone to anxiety as is and I know that constant flow of information has made me more depressed and anxious as I get older. For example, this morning I'm scrolling on Facebook (stupid I know) and I see someone sharing a gofundme page for a family who recently lost their two year old. I saw this on an old colleague's page, a person I haven't actually talked to in years, and its about a person who lives 5 states away and I'll never know. Now I'm thinking about how depressing that whole thing is and it brings me down. I would have never seen this pre social media days. The constant flow of negative news is just a downer, and its not that there is more bad news today than years ago, its just always there for you to see. In 1985 if you didn't catch the news at 6:30, then you missed out on the news for the most part. If something didn't happen in your immediate area, then you didn't know about it, and didn't worry about it.
