Same issue as the knockouts, but Crown of Thorns succulents (Euphorbia milii) in corten planters makes for great low maintenance near pool landscaping with some color.

Sago palms can be a pain for other reasons, but work really well near pools due to the low maintenance and not dropping seeds/fronds.
