No, I don't. I'm sure as he wrote the story he imagined a white girl, particularly given he was a 19th century white Danish guy who would view "white" as the default. As the story is written though, Ariel's race can literally be swapped for any other race and nothing about her story requires to be changed. She can go back to being white in a future portrayal of this character or she could be asian or she could be native, etc.
