This gets said constantly...NEVER with an explanation as to how Wade was such a poor x's and o's coach.

I don’t know enough about the intricacies of basketball to give detailed answer. But my guess is that it’s because he was unable to make any deep tourney runs despite having loads of talent. Look at all the guys he recruited who are not just on NBA rosters, but are producing at high levels.

I’m not personally saying Wade wasn’t a good Xs and Os guy, but that’s my guess as to how he might have gotten that reputation. May have reminded folks of Dale Brown in that regard.

And just to be clear—I love Will Wade. Would much rather he still be here than McMahon. Just offering my opinion on why things may have gone down like they did. It sucks for him—and us—that he got caught on that wiretap. But he did. And it likely forced some decisions that otherwise wouldn’t have been made.

Also, I’ve said in a few threads that McMahon just realized that you can’t X and O your way to wins in the current SEC. You have to have the dudes. If he’s not able to bring them in, his stay in Baton Rouge will be very short-lived. Who he brings in from the portal this year will very telling as to how long his tenure here will be.
