I love "Philadelphia Freedom", but the following line is just strange. I know that Bernie Taupin wrote some abstract lyrics on a lot of songs, "Grey Seal" comes to mind also.
"I like livin' easy without family ties (Livin' easy)
'Til the whippoorwill of freedom zapped me
Right between the eyes".
