He is wrong.
It’s not the single parent household that creates the bad arse 3 technique. It’s the genetics.
Ability being equal, give me the player (at any position) from a stable household over the one from a broken family that’s poor and absent a strong father figure any day of the frickin’ week.
ETA: I coached 20 years and (in general) the best kids to coach from an intangibles standpoint are farm kids. At one school we had a summer workout session at 5:00 AM so those kids could work on the farm in the Alabama heat all day.
Some kids in the hood might be bigger, faster, and stronger than those guys - thanks to genetics - but they are not tougher and more driven.
And the hood kid is also a lot more likely to frick up and get in trouble. There’s too many outlets to success today for professional sports to be seen as the only path to a good life for a kid who has his head on straight.
