I am honestly stunned that you believe such a broadly coordinated operation is so unlikely.
CAKE. (due to the naivete and programming of the vast majority who believe "things are what they seem...AND, exactly what we're told.")
As with all Ops and stagecraft, knowledge is compartmentalized, and yes, "cast members" do sign NDAs OR are sworn either contractually or upon some kind of oath.
This is not Kansas anymore (nor has ever BEEN Kansas.)

You and I obviously have different sets of priors about the baseline likelihood of mass conspiracies. They do happen, but I think they're rarer than you and tend to infer non-conspiratorial explanations more readily than you. And once you're convinced there are malevolent mega-conspiracies that persist through human history, you feel compelled over and over to appeal to it as the best explanation for a given event and you'll believe things like the Damar-is-dead CT.
