Y’all can downvote this if you would like and I don’t expect everyone to agree, but LSU basketball is dead.

1. Matt McMahon seems like a great guy and I absolutely wish him the best. Anyone who is wearing those prestigious three letters deserves our support to start. However, he has done absolutely nothing to generate any buzz around basketball. Wade was so good at marketing the program in the community and with the students. People were excited about LSU basketball and it was beginning to slightly overshadow baseball for a little while towards the latter part of PM’s coaching career.

2. The team has absolutely zero offensive identity. I can’t name one thing that they do well offensively. As an SEC program we should at least be able to identify one offensive strength and I honestly can not name a single one.

3. The PMAC atmosphere has reverted back to the Johnny Jones era. I was at the game tonight from the tip off until the final buzzer. The in arena music is awful and brings zero energy into the building. Also, the loudest moment before the short run to begin the second half was when they showed Kim Mulkey on the video board. I understand it’s a 6:00 game on a weeknight and BR traffic is a bitch. However, the fans who were in attendance were given absolutely nothing to cheer for and the place was silent. This is disheartening considering what that place was like last season and pre-covid under Wade.

Like I said, I will support my Tigers through it all but the program died when Wade was unjustly axed. People can say whatever they want about Will Wade but nobody was more passionate than him when it came to wanting to put LSU basketball on the map. We were building up to be a force and it was taken away due to soft administrative decisions in the face of adversity. Hoping one day we can get this thing back to where it was but we are in for some dark days before we see the light again. Geaux Tigers!
