Dad was the best FB, BB, and Baseball coach I ever had. He was a college pitcher, and could have competed nationally in the 440 (top 6 time), but for a conflict of seasons.
He's an aeronautical engineer who plotted Saturn1B trajectories on a sliderule at Michoud. Some of his mathematical work dealing with variable satellite orbits and communication portals was used by NASA for two decades, until continuous communication overtook intermediate up/downloads.
Unusual for an engineer, he's also a people person. After retirement, he'd walk our dogs (looong walks .... our dogs loved him) when he'd visit. He'd chat up anyone he met along the way, and he'd come back with information about our neighbors that we were totally unaware of. Which wife was doing whose husband kind of stuff. LOL.
Dad met my mom when they were teenagers and fell in love. They had a wonderful life together. Mom died a few months ago. Broken heart doesn't begin to describe dad now.
My sister and I are trying to get him involved in more activities... Tennis, Bridge, Chess. It's a process, but he's trying.
