We aren't the ones who get upset and defensive when someone actually dares to elevate God's word above all else, as if there's something wrong with the very word of God being preeminent.

I've been reading the book, The Bruised Reed, by Puritan Richard Sibbes, and he had a wonderful statement from the book: "What was said of Pharaoh shall be said of all heady enemies, who would rather lose their souls than their wills".

It's true: The natural man would rather suffer for eternity rather than give up his own sovereignty. Even false religion is based on what man does rather than what God does. This Lutheran "pastor" has replaced God's word for something better, in his estimation: man's word.
