Football has evolved so much since LSU first fielded a team. You can look at individual awards, but they are also dependent upon factors the player can’t control.

I believe when looking at all time lists you have to do it three ways:
1) Greatest players from each era
2) Significance of an individual player on a national level
3) The impact a player had on their team

Two and three are difficult because there are external factors. For example, some players seemingly carry their team while others are able to excel because of the supporting cast.
