I noticed him on the DL in the 4th quarter yesterday. He looked great in uniform. Big guy, but didn’t look fat at all. I don’t know what kind of talent he is, but he certainly looked physical enough to play now, but could really be a physical beast by next season.
I didn’t know anything about him until 5 minutes ago. Listed as a 6’3” 305 true freshman DE from Edna Carr, but looked to have played inside yesterday. Anybody know anything about him and his potential?
I also thought Tygee Hill and Quincy Wiggins both looked great in uniform. Really nice to see freshman DL come in not looking fat and sloppy, so they can focus on adding strength and good weight in the off-season instead of trying to lose it. I think we all expect Wiggins to compete for a starting spot next year or at least a heavy rotational piece, but if we can get some snaps from Bush and Hill to go along with Wingo/Smith/Jones/Guillory, the 4 DL we got in the portal, and maybe some pass rush snaps from the stud DE Womack (?), the ‘23 line could have 3 times the playable depth of this past years, despite losing 3 of our 4 DL starters.
Obviously need to do some work for ‘24 and beyond, but we’ll cross that bridge when we have to. Right now, it looks like the trenches will be deep and talented enough to make a championship run if things fall our way. Not predicting it, just saying DL depth shouldn’t be what prevents us from seriously challenging as it seemed to have this year as we ran out of gas the back 3rd of the season.

I noticed him late too. Is he a walk-on?

His recruiting profile showed him having offers from Memphis and a few FCS schools. He was also listed as a SDE at 265 but is up over 300 now. I think he has a chance to contribute at some point.
When we have a guy playing the most DL snaps in the country this year, anyone that can give a handful of snaps and take significant time in the buy games is valuable.
