My favorite game of all time isn’t one that anyone remembers except for me probably. We had Randy Livingston and Ronnie Henderson, Dale was coaching. We were playing Ole Miss in the PMAC and Ole Miss had us down and getting beaten damn near the whole game. The last minute of the game LSU erupts and starts knocking down bucket after bucket after bucket, with a couple or three big 3 pointers in there. The whole team was poppin and we came back and won the game.
It wasn’t on tv, and I was in my living room by myself with Hawthorne on the stereo system calling the game. You could hear Dan Borne over Hawthorne inside the PMAC as one player after another started draining buckets.
I started going f’ing nuts jumping up and down around the living room as LSU came alive and beat Ole Miss right at the very end of the game. It wasn’t a tournament game. No build up for it. No hype around it. Just a regular conference game. It just resonated with me I guess. Getting beaten the whole game no matter what we tried and then FINALLY erupting for the win at the end. It was awesome.
