We are getting close to closing on our new home here and will be starting to build me a system finally. I once had a nice system "back in the day" and it went by the wayside as I grew with my family and business.

Now its time to build one for me. I have a few temporary parts to start on but every thing will be needed eventually so I am going to build it so I can add what I need

To start with, I have a Denon AV receiver that I can use.. I also have a turntable that is OK for now.

My plan is to build a music system that is also a 5.1 surround system for my music room. Two front speakers (Klipsch 800's probably) with a center speaker. Then add a new Receiver/Amp-Pre Amp then a streaming device then new turntable. Probably add the back 2 speakers later as it will be more for music than surround system

So I probably will purchase items in this order

Front Speakers (Probably Klipsch 800's) But still looking
Center Speaker

Integrated Amp or Amp/Pre Amp( need help here)

Streaming device

New Turntable

Surround Speakers

I have a Samsung 65" 4K QLed TV to put in there

Im looking for references to check in on amps/Preamps/integrated amps and streamers.. Any good reference material out there.

TIA

I think your plan is generally spot on. 2 big questions jump immediately to mind.

1) As always, budget constraints are nice to know.

2) Are you able to consider a subwoofer? Even for a nominally full range tower, a quality sub to cover the bottom octave can really help solidify the sound. For a music prioritizing system I'd look for a sealed sub from a good specialist brand like SVS, Hsu etc.

I assume this is the Klipsch R-800F you are referring to? I see it's 40% off MSRP right now, seems like a good deal although it seems like Klipsch is frequently available at good discounts. One thing that helps is they have some of the highest efficiency / sensitivity you'll find at 98 dB, which means your amp/receiver works a lot less harder.

For a system with even occasional movie use you'll want an AVR, and there aren't a ton of options in that space. It's hard to go wrong with whatever Denon fits your budget and feature needs, especially given how easy the Klipsches are to drive.

I have been saving and have about 10k to spend on front speakers, some kind of power driver (integrated amp/ amp-pre amp) and streaming device.

Center speaker, rear speakers and new turntable later.

Whoa, that's a good bit more than I assumed given your initial post. There is an entirely different class of speaker that you should be considering then. I would be looking at stuff in the realm of Revel, KEF, GoldenEar, and some other high performance speakers in the $5k range. I see the Revel F208 is on sale at a good discount, $3800/pair. There are a lot of very good options in that range, it's a very competitive spot.

Similar for the amp, and I would take some time to consider what kind of system setup you want because the possibilities are much larger for a mixed use system.

When I built my initial system, everything was an amp and a pre-amp set up. Now the integrated amp seems to be very popular. I did not see awas a amp, and a pre-amp set up. Now the integrated amp seems to be very popular. I did not see a lot of power amp/preamp set ups. One of the big issues that I have, is that there are no real places to go listen to the set ups anymore.

Someone here has the NAD M33 at the heart of their system, and that's a fantastic all in one piece that should be on your short list of integrated/DAC/streamer kit.

Edit: That's a 2 channel only design, so if you ultimately want at least 5.1 channels it wouldn't be the best direction.
