We've won 2 National Titles, rushing the field is for wanna be programs.

You know, it was Saban who regularly preached to the LSU fans about the idea of "acting like you've been there." That WAS part of "his process" and a big reason why he was successful at LSU. He not only made the players better, he actually changed the way many LSU fans would think before and after games! He said after the 2000 victory over Bama when LSU fans stormed the field that it was exciting and it made him feel good that the fans were excited. But he also expressed his wish that he hoped winning at LSU would get to the point where we were accustomed to winning and THEN the desire to "rush the field" wouldn't have to happen. As he said, "Act like you've been there." He got many LSU fans to believe that. I still do. He's obviously doing the same thing at Bama right now. That moment in 2003 after Georgia scored and then the crowd started chanting LSU, LSU, was a turning point in that game that helped the players reach deeper to win the game. That was a result of Saban preaching to his players AND the fans.
LSU really has been there and it's juvenille to go back to the old way of thinking.
While I think Miles has done well here, his lack of talking to the fans like Saban did is cause for some regression back to the "old way" of thinking as previous LSU fans did. That's what I miss.
I'm grateful for what Saban did for LSU. I don't like that fact that he's at Bama but that's part of what he's all about. I want LSU to beat him. But I will not boo Saban. Bama will learn, sooner than they will want to realize, the same things we learned about Saban. Saban knows how to motivate players and fans and that's part of the reason for his success. The booing, the leaving early and rushing the field...it's not what winners are about.

I'm sorry if this is petty and petulant - and to paraphrase the current Okie State coach, I'm grown, I'm 41, but if the defeat of a WVMD-coached, #1 Alabama Crimson-freakin-Tide football team, in Tiger Stadium, is not a valid reason to storm the field, then I am at a loss as to when such an outpouring of emotion would EVER be valid. If the WVMD ends up injured, dead or MIA, he made that bed, not me.
I don't advocate violence, I engage in it. Let the Gumps fall where they may.
