Here is my advice, when you see something you like, buy it. You're the one who has to look at this stuff every single day, so buy stuff that makes you happy, not stuff you think is going to impress guests.
Do not buy everything at one store. If you do, it will look outdated and cheap before you get it out of the box.
Do not buy stuff to match your furnishings. Your furnishings will not outlast your art. Buy art you want to keep, then decorate around it.
