The old money families and the political dynasties feeding at the public trough want to keep things as they are. They don’t want true political, economic, or educational reform because it’ll upset the status quo. Louisiana has squandered the advantages it has from its location on the map: access to the heartland upriver and the Gulf downriver, abundant freshwater, mild winter climate, rich soils, and abundant minerals. We should have a high quality of life but for the politicians and their lackeys who continue to take advantage of us.
