Not sure what happened after his UF, Ole Miss, and Bama stretch, but he seemingly lost all confidence.
The last three teams we played used the same ideas that UT and Auburn had success against us with. They dropped 7 or 8 often and played a lot of zone with plenty of defenders facing the play to keep Daniels’ running yards to a minimum. UAB and A&M didn’t execute it as well as UT and Auburn (especially UAB), but Arkansas certainly did.
Daniels has been much better against man defense, especially playing at home. He’s been more willing to take a few deep shots and has even been willing to throw it over the middle. It also gives him a much easier path to big plays on the ground. Drop zone takes all of that away. He doesn’t have the confidence to throw guys into the open windows, so he holds the ball more and either bails late or takes a sack.
Daniels did a better job passing the ball against A&M than he did vs Auburn or Arkansas, but his mistakes, especially the turnover, were costly.
