I am not sure that this is the case. Had a friend who went through this with his oldest daughter some years back. It was a combination of factors that come to play. This guy had another daughter 2 years younger who was not in the least influenced .

Older daughter started developing physically late and was something of a loner who was self conscious. Got into a reddit chat room where this stuff was rampant. Basically there were all these people saying that if you did not feel comfortable in your own skin, it was probably because you had a male brain in a female body. They would actually back it with b.s. science from whack jobs from Europe that even the Europeans were not buying.

Had a coworker who's three daughters went through this phase, all via social media. Tumblr was the main offender back in the day.

Strange how as adults they no longer play in this foolishness.

Modern feminism weakens the individual in favor of the collective.
