Why would you think just because a candidate is supported by a party that voters will fall in line? Or that they all have there same goals. Hell the RINO shite alone should clue you in that two wings of the party aren't in alignment.

The quality of the candidate and also their leanings matter. In an area where the Republican party is 35% of the voters, you need not only everyone in the party but you need a chunk of the independents as well. If your message is turning off voters in you're own party and the independents, you simply won't win. It's simple math.
