There are youtube videos that go into detail.

Good place to start is writing down everything you remember about your dream when you wake up. Its normal to not remember much more than one or two details at first. But if you continually push to remember, you will start remembering more and more.

The push to recall more and more details kind of conditions your brain to be more aware while you’re in a dream. Its the pre-req for being able to recognize that you’re in a dream. At which point you can start trying to exert control over aspects of the dream.

Yesterday afternoon, I dreamed that I was in college but I could not remember the classes that I signed up for. My memory was blank. I went to the dorms to check to see if my schedule was in my mailbox but it wasn't. I remember thinking that I am in college but I am 55 years old. What am i doing going to college ? And then I woke up.
