Looking to go during Mardi Gras
Kids are young, so more snow tubing/ playing in the snow than actual skiing.
Been looking more east- pigeon forge, blue ridge, banner elk etc.
I have never been to these places, just looking for recommendations about possible cabin rentals and locations to relax and let the kids experience and play in the snow.
TIA

Winterplace WV is the spot. about 14 hour drive, right next to the interstate.
Tubing hill and a lot of easy runs.
They have some cabins next to the slopes if you can get one reserved soon.
Much better than Gatlinburg or North Carolina.
Pipe stem state park is about a 20 minute drive and has a lodge and cabins. They had sleds and other thing for the kids to do.

That's very subjective. I know friends and family that regularly drive out to the Rockies from Louisiana to go skiing.

Awesome thanks. Will definitely check it out. A lot of those other places say they pump in snow and seems more like a tourist trap than anything

Most ski resorts use snow making machines to build a base. Even in Colorado they do this to extend the ski season.
WV is usually good until early March. Snowshoe WV, a little further north, opened today.
The altitude in Colorado kicks my arse, so I like WV. 4000-5000' compared to 9000-11000' for Colorado resorts.
BUT, Colorado snow is definitely amazing to ski on.

I have never been to this place but my friend was telling me about it last year.
If I get a chance this season, I will go check it out.

Hidden Valley outside of St Louis, Sugar and Beech in NC are all in the 10-12 hour driving range.
