[i]They grow naturally out of cow patties. We used to head north from campus on river road and pick them out of grazing herds. They turn a bluish purple when bruised.
A farmer caught us one time, wanted to know what the hell we were doing. We said it was for a class we were taking at LSU in biology. He thought about it a second and said, “Well ok then, take all you want.”
That was 50 years ago. Ahhh, those were the days my friend.

I picked so many one time that I filled up a paper grocery bag. My roommates and I made tea and threw a 'shroom party. Ranks top 3 in the biggest mistakes I made in college. A fun disaster in hindsight.
