Go on Amazon and order movie-Born On the Fourth of July.Gave me cold chills,I was Ron Kovic(played by Tom Cruise),senior in high school all I wanted to do was join the Marines ,go to Viet Nam and kill communists.
Went to Marine Recruiting office but they wouldn’t take me as I was 17 unless my father signed for me.He said hell no on the Marines but he would sign for the Navy.
So I join the Navy, was in Seabees and volunteered twice to go to Viet Nam.For some reason they never called me even though they had asked for volunteers.

The scenes in the V.A hospital was horrific but were common in some V.A hospitals from talking to veterans.

My sister spent her last 5 years working in V A hospitals in Seattle. She said the patients that were the highest priority were veterans wanting sex change operations.Higher priority than combat veterans with war injuries,if you can imagine that shite.

I am from family of 5 generations of veterans counting grandson that is currently a Navy pilot.I always talked up the Navy to my grandsons but not anymore,I tell them to stay far away from it now.In fact I have a 20 year old grandson that was offered $30,000 sign on bonus out of high school to go into Navy nuclear program.
He has a academic scholarship and is majoring in physics so all is good.

Cruise’s finest performance.. some might say Magnolia, but he didnt carry that movie.. Born on the Fourth wasnt a great movie (it was good) but a little too long IMO and dragged in places.. but his performance in that film was magnificent .
