Even if you throw out the varsity sports option (which is crazy valuable in its own right), there is still an absolute massive chasm between this option and any of the others. The value of an appointment to West Point or Annapolis can not be overstated. Assuming he has 100% buy-in, between the physical commitment, discipline, and education, he will become his best self, and can write his ticket both financially and quality of life.
If it all possible, I would highly stress he go this route...specifically with an engineering major and systems engineering minor.
