We left early Sunday and arrived by RV at a park outside Nashville. Cool little place. We took a Uber downtown to Skulls Rainbow room. Great food and exceptional live jazz. The price tag was ridiculous but it's vacation.
The next morning we head out to Lexington where we camped for the week out in the middle of nowhere at a beautiful site on the Kentucky River named Cummings Ferry. Had a few wonderful nightcappers around the fire across from the limestone wall on the other side of the river from us.
Tuesday we started by going on the Woodford tour. Absolutely beautiful drive in through thoroughbred country. The tour and gift shop are first rate and so is the bar across the street.
Next we went to Buffalo trace. The historical and sheer size is what I remember most as well as the aroma (Heaven).
Wednesday we went to Four Roses. The gift shop was incredible as was the bar and patio area. We even went back Friday afternoon to have a round. The tour was nice. Overall top experience considering what I was expecting. We had a great lunch on the river and then had what was possible the best part of the week by pulling into the Castle on the way back to the camper. Special time at the bar I will never forget as we drank some Pappys and struck a conversation with a former Kentucky basketball player under Eddie Sutton. He reminisced about coming to the Deaf Dome when Chris Jackson was playing and the student body was there 2 hours early. Great night.
Thursday we went to Makers Mark and I can't say enough about this tour and the grounds, a must see. Had a great lunch at Willet distillery.
Their egg salad sandwich was incredible. Stopped at the Woodford bar on the way back to the camp.
Friday we went to Castle and Keys which was beautiful. Grab a drink and walked the gorgeous grounds. Ate afterwards at the Stave down the road for maybe our best meal of the week. This is the afternoon we finished off our day back on the patio at Four Rose's.
Saturday we went to the Breeders Cup at Keeneland and had a blast. Broke even and saw everyone decked out and throwing down. Flightline is a FREAK.
We came back to the RV and watched LSU beat Bama!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!! A week I will never forget.
