It was the correct call, Brooks never had possession
I’m curious. If 2 hands on the ball doesn’t establish possession, what does? Did it get bobbled? Yea, when the TE touched it from out of bounds. That was AFTER Brooks had 2 hands on the ball and a knee down.
Nothing that was shown was enough to overturn the call on the field.

The ball was fumbled. If Brooks is possessing the ball when he puts two hands on it, then the whistle would blow the play dead and LSU would attain possession.
That is never the case with a fumbled ball. If the situation was the same in the middle of the field (away from the sidelines) and as the ball is fumbled, the LSU player placed two hands on the ball, then a bama player fell on the ball and pulled the ball into his chest, who does the possession go to?

So what all of yall “two hands on the ball” people are saying is that the instant a player has two hands on the ball it’s his.
Is this the case with a receiver? No. There must be some sort of football move made.
Possession is not instantaneous.
We may not like the call, but it was correct.
Possession is not established by “two hands on the ball”.
