I agree. I believe they were more advanced than we currently think, and the evidence likely lies at the bottom of the ocean.
The verified megaliths from the era show that they were capable builders and were somewhat settled in one area - not a characteristic of nomadic hunter gatherers living in caves and grass huts. The astrology is also interesting. Understanding the moon phases and stars would have been essential for agriculture.
