I thought I would run some averages for the LSU/BAMA game just to compare. These are the averages after LSU's 7 games and Bama's 8 games. The is just for thoughts, not the professionals that bash every post. I'm fully aware that numbers really mean nothing.

LSU-BAMA
1st Downs 21-19
Total Yards 413-371
Passing 233-165
Rushing 180-205
Penalties 6-51 / 5-39
3rd Down 5-13 / 5-13
4th Down 1-1 / 2-2
Turnovers 2-1
Possession 30:15-32:58

pretty suprised at Bama rushing av.

and that 2-1 turnover rate might be the deciding factor.

the last 3 games, the averaged about 24 pts per game.
I wish I knew what part of that were DEFENSIVE pts.
I am still not sold 100% ON their GREAT offense>

Interesting stuff. I think the key to the game will be if 'bama plays there style of game. Smash mouth, pound the ball, hold the ball for the majority of the game and wear down opponents. We aren't going to hang ~70pts on a team like USC - that just doesn't appear to be BAMA's style this year.
Should be a helluva game!

IF that's Bama's game, then that plays into LSU's strengths. We would love to not have to worry about defending downfield passing, and just line up and have you pound the ball.

Moreover, that would allow us on offense to use more C Scott, R Murphy and K Williams and a little less J Lee.

Please play that type of game.

Sounds good. I think UGA fans wanted a bit of the same too...

I think it should be a really close and good game. QB play/turnovers will be the key - I think!

Too bad the offenses don't play each other.

The real problem is the defensive Stats.

LSU--BAMA
Scoring Defense 25.9--13.8
Total Defense 316.4--263.1
Rushing Defense 110.6--62.4
Pass Defense 205.9--200.8
Pass Effic. Defense 123.4--103.3
3rd down effic defense 32.6%--26.1%

Thank you, Loserman, for bringing more clarity to the "stats" comparisons.....

defense is definitely the key differential!!

Plus, in bold print and asterisks, you could put those turnovers in as "defensive TDs" for our opponents....something I don't think BAMA's given up this year.

I don't see Bama wearing down LSU. The one bright spot late in the Georgia game was that LSU appeared to be more conditioned and fresher (depth) than Georgia.

We have a decent shot at Bama. At home, at night, Saban's return......the team will be pumped along with the electric atmosphere. LSU has managed to stay in the game with UGA and Florida for the first half. If we can do that with Bama, our depth could win the game for us. Bama seems a lot weaker in second halves this year.

Maybe so.

But it isn't a NIGHT GAME. 2:30 kickoff.
Of course I have never been one to really think that the night game stuff really matters.

Especially considering the Stats have been padded by playing 2 DIV 1AA Opponents to start the season.

All that work for nothing. We will still have a piss poor defensive game and sarah jessica wilson is going to light our secondary up...

You are aware that they had their best 2 offensive linemen out for that game with a 3rd playing out of position right?

Didn't we struggle with Auburn? I mean geeze Tulane would probably beat Auburn

Saban will hit our young QB with sum shyat he's never encountered and also pick apart our secondary.
