Harry Coleman Should Be Benched

Rewatching the game from sat, I have come to realize that harry coleman, along with jai eugene and kelvin sheppard, is one of the main reasons this defense is so bad. Several times during the game Coleman was in position to make a tackle and instead of wraping up and taking down the ball carrier, he lowers his shoulder and goes for the big hit. He misses way too many tackles and it is a shame because he has the talent. Sheppard is out of position 9 times out of 10, and Jai is just not an SEC starting corner. I don't think you bench him for the year, but I would for atleast one game. You need to prove a point. The is the SAFETY. He is the last line of defense and he has to make the tackle. If out safetys are gonna miss must have tackles like that, I would prefer they be freshmen or sophmores.

That's like a fourth of the defense. You think we should bench a fourth of the defense for even more inexperienced players?

I would just settle for them to quit dancing like idiots on every kickoff, and quit acting like they just made a game saving tackle on every play when we're down by 21 pts.

Sheppard definitely needs less PT. Coleman wasn't that good out of HS to begin with, so he's really been a surprise. I agree that he's got the "hitman" syndrome and that hurts against good SEC competition, unlike Appy State and UNT 180 pound TB's. Eugene...ehhh...he's just NOT what we thought he going to be, but he's still young.

Who should replace them? You seem to have all the answers.

We're already giving up huge plays every game. Coleman just performed so poorly agains uga I say sit him for tulane to make him remember to wrap up.

Dude, he just has not been that good. Hawkins is way better than him, and PP is already better. Its not about that one td. He just is consistently not making plays on the ball.

I agree that he MUST be disciplined for this. It's absolutely sickening. In one form or fashion, make him understand, or sit his arse on the bench...

Can't argue with that.

I think since we are bashing individual secondary players every week, shouldn't the realization hit soon that it's possibly not the players? When NO one is successful, might be those people up in the booth? These guys who played last year couldn't all have digressed at once.

Jai Eugene has played well in man to man as have all the corners for the most part. Its missed assignments and blown coverage that kills the D... not getting beat in man

I know exactly what jai has and has not done this year. He stays near the wr and waits till after he catches the ball to make the tackle. He doesn't play the ball. He has no ball skills. How many pass breakups does jai have this year All Knowing Stat Keeper?

I agree. I'm not bashing Harry...I just think that he shouldn't be flying around like the Juggernaut trying to break through a brick wall everytime he makes a tackle.
And you're absolutely correct...the fact that this hasn't been corrected lies completely on the coaches.

You might be on to something.
