There are several every year. And I agree, there are always arms that develop into much better pitchers than projected for whatever reason--great coaching, later development, etc. However, the bigger programs tend to nab the already proven (on top travel ball stages) arms. Of course these same programs ALSO recruit players that may not already have the shiny resume but they see the potential in them or see what others don't see and feel they can train them and make them better or that they are on an upward trajectory. You HAVE to recruit those type of players as well, if for no other reason than the fact that 12 scholarships (and the new money some schools can give) only takes you so far and they have to fill out their teams. I think most people's point here isn't that they should not take players that are not big names or that those players won't end up panning out, but that they should be securing the bigger ticket players too!! The big ticket kids tend to be brought into visits earlier.

Just saw another pitcher was committed. Ashlin Mowery. Sounds like a promising arm despite not being one of the better known arms out there.

COMMITS HERE:

Ashlin Mowery: Pitcher with Ohio Hawks. Not familiar with player. Ohio Hawks runs decent program and she seems to be a pretty good pick up from what can be gauged on social media.

Braelyn Daniels: CATCHER: Nice size, athletic player with a big bat. Played with Bombers org and watched by a lot of coaches.

LINK

Lauryn Soeken: PITCHER: Decent pitcher but not one of the proven variety and played 16U ball this past year. Plays with Impact Gold organization.

LINK

Cali Deal: Lefty PITCHER from LA. Not a top end pitcher but great size and might develop into a good pitcher.

LINK

Gradie Appling: Athletic middle and utility.
