That would be the problem with a CEO style coach. You are only as good as your assistants and you have to pay the hell out of them so they stay rather than leave you holding your dick in your hand.
Miles and O prove that.

His assistant coaching hires were perplexing. He intended to keep both Phil Bennett and Napier as coordinators, but both left shortly after he was hired, and the door kept revolving.
A new coach rarely has his ideal staff in place in year 1, but by year 3 he was hiring a bunch of high school coaches and young GAs/analysts as position coaches. He promoted Antonio Pierce to Def. coordinator.
These hires were largely for recruiting purposes, but ASU didn’t get a big bump in recruiting. They had been consistently 4th or 5th in the PAC-12 before Herm was hired, remained there for his first 2-3 years, then it plummeted the past couple of seasons once the NCAA began snooping around.
Joining the staff of a respected coach like Herm Edwards probably seemed like a big break and learning opportunity for a young coach, but a half dozen of them will forever have their reputation tarnished, at least on the collegiate level
