My brother just retired from CN and it got to the point where he hated at the end.

Said they seemed to always ready to fire someone

It's a middle-man industry, all you can do is cut costs to affect profits. Until someone busts out the cold fusion locomotive.

Back in the 90's when I hired out on the first day of conductor training the instructor said "The railroad will spend $80k training you over the next 6 months and then spend the rest of your career trying to fire you."

They've always been pricks to work for but have gotten much worse over the past 10+ years. With the railroads that hired EHH leading the way.
