Here, I'll fix it. Instead of him wearing the never before heard of bullshite device on his wrist to keep him from changing into Hulk, they get into the same car accident and you see her injured in the accident, he Hulks out but she's unresponsive at the scene and you see him pick her up and take off. Cut to the hospital with her waking up and she looks fine. He then explains that she was dying and he had to quickly make the decision to give her a transfusion and save her life but infect her with the Hulk blood, or let her die. Easy peasy. But doing this keeps him the hero, which is no good here. Funny part is, they could have gone this route and STILL made it all feminist if they wanted, because they could then have her openly blaming him for her situation. But, they preferred to have her get Hulk juice via her own heroic self sacrifice and still allow her to bitch at him for it.

Asking why it matters is like asking why it matters there are now beardless black female dwarves in Tolkien, etc. If it didn't matter at all, creators would stop changing things and keep the spirit of the source material as is. The fact that they DO keep altering things tells you how much it really does matter.
