You can't watch the first half of the season and come away thinking he's not a very good quarterback. People who just claim he doesn't make any reads & is quick to run haven't paid much attention to any of his clips. He seemed to have a lot of confidence early on in the season, & did a lot of good things in the BYU, Utah, UCLA games in particular. His receivers weren't very impressive & didn't make many plays. The running backs were very good(better than anyone on our end this year going in for sure), so it makes sense that they went more run heavy, with JD included.

That being said the overthrows were definitely an issue. Maybe the footwork issue Kelly & Denbrock have mentioned multiple times was one of the primary causes. If he's gotten that under control he can be very, very good here. It's likely that we'll see.

This is dead on.

I don’t know wtf happened after that Utah game but that offense and Daniels was never the same the rest of the season. Which is so puzzling because they had a bye week going into that Wash St game and went out there and had their worst game of the season.

They were completely out of sync and in disarray up until the Arizona game to end the season.

But the first 5 games and he’ll even the first Qtr of that Utah game idk how you don’t come away excited about what JD can be here.

I said this a month ago and got downvoted to death. His footwork is just not very good. Explains a LOT of the overthrows and inaccuracy. His intermediate throws were garbage his last year.

But fortunately that's coachable and can be fixed quickly. Cant coach his speed or arm strength...which both are impressive.
