Not to the extent of 2011, but Miles's conservatism on offense cost us a shot at the title in 2006 and held us back in 2005.

This is actually somewhat not true. We were still running spread concepts and spread option into 2010. Sure it was conservative, but we were running a more modern style. In 2011 Miles had success with pure dino ball and THAT is what really ruined him.

I'm talking in terms of formations and style. Miles was always conservative, but we went from running spread with 3/4 WR to a narrow style running 2 TE I-form all the time. That's how he held back an offense like 2013 with Mett, Hill, OBJ, and Landry. You have to work to do that. Bama had a RB playing QB who had a better year than Mett.
