So the actor is non-binary. Not necessarily the character. Even if the character discusses how her sex or gender has affected her life, it makes perfect sense in the context of the fact she was passed over in the succession because of it, and is not a new thing at all in the genre.

Not to mention, sex in reptiles is far more fluid than genetics, so possibly right on the nose for the House of the Dragon.

This being said, my biggest issue with non-binary people is they often come off as completely self-obsessed and for people who I think are trying to downplay the role of gender in their lives, it sure as hell seems to be the only thing they constantly talk about.
