Let's not forget that Nippolt was a true backup plan after both Young and Pineda signed unexpectedly. I understand the concern with recruiting over a transfer, but Jay started him almost the entire non-conference schedule until it was pretty clear that he couldn't find grass at the plate. And, I like Nippolt, he has great at bats, good defender, gritty, etc...but he was given every opportunity to prove himself, and that's about as much as you can ask for as a backup plan transfer. And, he got a Natty ring. Jay did alot of good for Ben Nippolt, no matter what the future holds.

You take the best available and let the chips fall. If I believe I am going to be unseated - which is not mine anyway as this is not an individual sport - I either transfer [which is fine and understandable], I improve my game where I don't get unseated or I try to land elsewhere on the squad

I wonder if Jay is back in B.R. or still recruiting in Cali?

The young man just cant hit, it is what it is. If youre trying to build a dynasty you cant have dead weight taking up a roster spot that can only field, its just that simple.
