He doesn’t need to. I don’t think we’re getting the whole story, and if we are - AA is about to get fined out the arse and possible action taken against the crew.

Passengers are required to be either given the opportunity to get off and/or offered food and water. “Comfortable cabin temperatures” is also written as a part of the regulatory requirement.

At first glance in the article they appeared to comply with regs, arent the regs 3 hours max? They switched planes, deplaned and boarded a second plane. The passengers were on one plane for 3 hours and the other less than that. Horrible situation and AA is to blame but just wanted to clarify.
